Follow Friday Four Fill-in Fun - Week 226

This week I was chosen to co-host the Follow Friday Four fill-in Fun - Week 226 blog hop.

Click on the link at the end of the page to link up with your post to this blog hop.

The statements this week:

1.  I don't like______________________________________________________________.

2.  _________________________ makes me _____________________________________.

3.  It's a challenge for me _____________________________________________________.

4. My favorite time to________________________________________________________.

My answers:

1.  I don't like canned okra.  I've only eaten it once, when we were first married and living on a limited budget.  It was on sale.  Neither one of us liked it.  It is probably better mixed in with other things, but I fixed by just heating it up and serving on the side like a serving of peas or green beens.  I was told later that buying it fresh, dipping it in a batter and deep-fat frying it made it taste wonderful!

2.  Pills to prevent seasickness actually makes me seasick.  The very first and only time I've been deep sea fishing, I was worried about becoming seasick while on the boat.  To keep that from happening, I got a prescription for some medicine that would help me avoid that.  I took it about an hour before we were to leave on the boat, as directed, and got very sick during that hour.  By the time the boat came, I was feeling fine and wasn't sick while on the boat.  I may have still looked a little green at the gills though.

3.  It's a challenge for me to interpret and/or understand what someone who has Alzheimer's is trying to communicate.  Pieces of the person's experiences real and imagined seem to get all mixed together with dreams or illusions.  To the person it is very real.  It is best just to listen and go with the flow and if possible to change the direction of thought by calling their attention to something nearby in order to change the subject.  One, being me, would like so much to bring back the person's memory and what reality is, but that is not the nature of the illness.

4.  My favorite time to think clearly is early morning when no one else is awake and it is totally quiet.

    1. As you can tell, I would never even make the suggestion that you try okra. I'm sure that using fresh okra and perhaps coating it in a batter and frying it would make it taste better, if you can eat fried foods. However, I'm going to pass on that as well.

    1. It sounds like you have perhaps tried it cooked at least a couple of ways. As far as I am concerned, there are enough different vegetables to choose from that okra doesn't have to be one of them, unless there was nothing else but to eat
