How would you use "clip" in a sentence? Would you be able to include that sentence in a story. . .a six sentence story? Here is my post to the Six Sentence Stories - Clip blog hop hosted by Denise of Girlie on the Edges Blog.
In order to cause the least amount of disturbance they had placed a small flashlight and a pair of nail clippers on the bedside table before they retired for the night.
They left their bedroom door slightly ajar so a click of the doorknob turning wouldn’t awaken her when the time was right; the hinges on the doors had been oiled earlier that day.
About ten they tiptoed into the hall and approached her bedroom door, not wanting to make a sound that would require them starting from square one again.
Thankfully the nightlight in the room revealed that her face was turned toward the opposite wall as she embraced Pup-Pup while surrounded by her menagerie of stuffed dogs; she didn’t budge an inch as they approached her bed.
In order to pull off this hoist of sorts, near the the bottom rail he lifted the edge of the blanket and used it as a shield for the bright light from the flashlight focused on the task to be done.
His wife held the now relaxed little foot and except for a deep sigh from their daughter, there was no indication the little girl even knew that with a snip and a clip her big toenail had just been trimmed.
That was a real challenge to trim that toenail.
ReplyDeleteSome things are easier to tackle when a child is sleeping.
DeleteLOL Now surely that is true parental love :)
ReplyDeleteWith some children, it is almost as hard as trimming a cats nails.
ReplyDeleteOh boy, trimming the nails of cats sounds like a job I wouldn't want to do. Do they have to be sedated or do some cats just willingly submit?
Deleteok... I buy the strategy*
ReplyDeletequestion is: How to do this if dealing with a canine? lol
Suspect that no amount of quiet would allow us to clip Una's nails while she slept.
*and excellent and engaging Six
Thanks.
DeleteDogs have such a strong sense of smell, I am sure Una wouldn't accept that kind of treatment in the night.
Always a winner here. Good six Pat!
ReplyDeleteBest parents ever! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat means a lot. :-)
DeleteThat was a well-planned almost military operation to get at that toe. Cool six!
ReplyDeleteThank you. It did seem to have a little bit of a clandestine approach.
DeleteI have a cat like this...his claws are never trim! Lol!
ReplyDeleteWe had a lot of cats on the farm where I grew up, many of which were ones people dropped off in the country. I am pretty sure their claws were never trimmed, but with all the hunting they did, I think they managed to keep them within reason.
DeleteWhat a build up! Love this!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on that one Lisa! 😇
DeleteI would rather trim the cat's claws than an unwilling small child's finger or toenails! Excellent 6! I'm assuming this is non-fiction?
ReplyDeleteI don't know. A feisty cat with those sharp claws would scare me off, but I agree an unwilling child can be a handful, and you wonder how I know. HaHa
