Six Sentence Stories - Perfect

This is a blog hop post to Ivy's Six Sentence Stories - Perfect.  The story is told in six sentences and the prompt word is perfect.

She hoped that all things would be perfect, or at least as perfect as possible while living in an unfinished home.  Her daughter was bringing her finance home for the family to meet, one week prior to the planned wedding.  Although they had spoken to him on the phone, he had not been in their home yet since they both had been attending a university in another state.  After the initial greeting and welcoming and having a meal together, they all settled in the living room to share stories and get to know one another.  The family fell in love with the infectious laughter of the young man who seemed to be as much at ease with them as they were with him.  The evening seemed perfect until the instant a bat flew into the room and above their heads bringing a great pandemonium in the room until the great family bat-catching activity brought the family together in a most unusual and lasting way.

Note:  How the bat got in is still a mystery, and there has been only one other bat appearance inside the house in all the many years the family has lived in the home --- very glad to report.

Photo I took of a dead bat we discovered outside several years ago.

  1. Nothing like a good bat hunting to bond a family together! Was that Kristi and John?

  4. Also, if memory serves me, the "great family bat-catching activity" actually consisted of Dad and John running after the bat, flinging a sheet at it, while the rest of us stayed firmly planted on the couch, ducking every time the bat got near.

  5. Well, it certainly wasn't a dull evening! What they needed was a tennis racket -- we had bats in Michigan!

    1. You are so right! It wasn't a dull evening. Bats are great to have around outside to eat insects, but I prefer they stay outside. :-)
