“Ma, when are you goin’ get rid of these old bustles? They went out of style 40 years ago, and most ladies refuse to wear them anymore. We need to free up some space in our wardrobe.”
“Since when did you become so interested in what I have hanging in there, Pa?”
“Never you mind. I’m just trying to help out the ragman, ol’ Joe. His business has been waning since the flappers began wearing those short fringed dresses.”
Fun story, it's nice of him to want to help his friend (and get his wife to quit hanging on to stuff she doesn't need in the process, i imagine).
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mimi. The change in clothing styles put a lot of ragmen out of business.

ReplyDeleteSo many people depend on people buying their products, but what a price we have paid in the long run as we buy the new items on the shelves and get rid of the outdated.

ReplyDelete🤣Love your response!

DeleteI am waiting for the crew from Hoarders to show UP at the front door and say, "You need us."

DeleteThis reminds me, I need to purge again soon. I like your six!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Susan. It is easy to overlook the accumulation of "stuff" if we aren't careful. I should know.
DeleteYou highlight a reciprocity not often recognized until one facet of a relationship is affected by the changing circumstance of another :)
ReplyDeleteSo came the saying, "one man's junk is another man's treasure"??
Thought provoking Six!
There is so much interrelatedness in this world of ours.
DeleteThanks for the cue. I learned so much while trying to figure out what direction I was going to go with this prompt!
A humorously thoughtful Six.
