Ten Things of Thankful

It is that time again. Our host, Kristi of Thankful Me, opens the link for the Ten Things of Thankful blog hop and lets us know when it is time to share those things for which we are grateful. The items that show up in the posts of the contributors ebb and flow each week depending on life. We all know how that goes. Some weeks are better than others, but that doesn't keep us from taking some time to consider such a thing as gratitude and why it matters to us.
So happy May Day, and here goes.

1. Pillows of all kinds. . .squishy, firm, large, and small
I have needed them a lot this week and I was glad we had them.

2. Movie recommendations from a cousin and also from my hubby who knows the kind of movies that interest me

3. Rest

4. BYU Women’s Conference
I have never attended this particular conference, but because of COVID-19 I was able to stream part of it and watch the rest of today's conference  on YouTube

5. Kindle book
I was able to purchase another Kindle book this week.

6. Being able to scan and add a few more photos on Ancestry and FamilySearch family trees
When I was looking through some files this week I discovered some photos sent to me years ago. I decided to see if anyone had attached them to the individuals in the Ancestry and FamilySearch  family trees. These photos had not been added. I am sure that other descendants will enjoy seeing these photos. These are all individuals who are now deceased.

7. Going grocery shopping in a nearby city, thanks to a neighbor’s recommendation
In that branch the aisles are much wider allowing for more social distancing, plus the store carries a much larger selection than the store near us.

8. Poems
When I read this poem on an online memorial video this week, I thought of many family members and friends who enjoy gardening and it brought back so many memories I have of working with the soil and planting seeds and young plants. Hope you enjoy it too.

The Glory of Gardening

9. Spa music to help distract me from pain
Because we are still staying home except for an occasional trip for groceries or medications, there was no spa involved, nor acupuncture, nor massage which typically are accompanied with music of that ilk, but we have plenty of sources for the music and it seems to help some.

10. Learning interesting things
Maybe all of you already knew this, but it was news to me.
I grew up knowing that sometimes on Mother's Day the mom was given a corsage to wear, but I had no idea that in some parts of the country a woman would wear a white corsage indicating her mother was deceased or a red or pink corsage if her mother was still living. Is this a tradition in your family?

  1. I was tickled to find some Kindle freebies offered recently. And love when the library gets new e-books. They've added a lot since the pandemic.

    1. It is a good time to take advantage of those opportunities. The book I wanted wasn't one of the freebies, but that is okay because I had such good things about it.

  2. That's a sweet poem. I need to go outside right now! I do remember that corsage tradition, although I've never participated. What kinds of movies do you enjoy?
    Thanks for sharing.

  3. I enjoy my kindle more than hardcopy in two regards: a) easier to read in bed and 2) 'Samples' I've spent days reading just the samples. (Sometimes I'm awake for less than a half an hour of reading time, Samples are easy and free!

    have a good week.

  6. I love Kindle books and Audiobooks. They are distracters from stationary exercises.
