Finish the Sentence Friday - Listicle - Better than anything except being in love

It is Friday and not only that, it is time to post another "listicle" here. I just love that word, don't you! It is kind of like mystical because we never know what prompt we will be given for our list for the FTSF blog hop. I won't keep you in suspense any longer. It is Finish the Sentence Friday - Better than anything except being in love. Our host is Kristi Campbell at Finding Ninee and the co-host is Kenya G. Johnson at Sporadically Yours. Both sites provide a link to join in the fun and to see what others are posting this week.

1. Smiles

2. Retelling of family stories with family

3. Laughter and giggles

4. Pure natural outdoor light

5. Shade and a breeze on a hot day

6. Getting it, or in other words, finally understanding how to solve something

7. Tender scenes such as seeing a little child show compassion

8. Freedom

9. Pure unadulterated water

10. Forgiveness

I'm purposely not posting any photos with these, because I am hoping as you read my list you saw your own scenes from your memories. Now go finish the sentence Friday.

  1. Yep! In your #2 I immediately pictured my dad who was here last weekend, retelling a story. He always says, "Did I ever tell you about the time..." and someone says yes but he tells it again anyway, and it's got a bit more info than last time. Perhaps embellishments, but fun nonetheless.

    1. His stories could be a treasured memory not only for you, but for others in the family, if you record or video him telling his stories. My husband did that once at a family reunion and we still laugh as we listen to some of the stories shared. Some of the story tellers have passed on now, but being able to still hear the voices and stories is a blessing.

  2. I love retelling family stories. Every year at a reunion as a kid, we would hear the same stories and I looked forward to it everytime. Probably because we had a great storyteller!

    1. Even those who may not consider themselves as great story tellers often share interesting things about themselves and the family that opens the eyes of others about why certain family members may feel the way they do about different things that transpired during their lives.

  3. A beautiful list and yes, I can resonate to the above :)

    1. I think #2 is a winner judging with how much this resonates with those who have read my list so far. Glad you enjoyed the list.

  5. Love this and agree that picturing your own memories is so much stronger. We went on vacation with my brother and his family recently, and his kids and mine were fascinated by stories of our growing up. It was magical really. And funny that you say listicle reminds you of mystical... it always reminds me of list tickle since my phone auto-corrected to that once when texting with Kenya about this idea :D
    So glad you joined!

    1. Auto corrects do the funniest things! I never even thought of it a list tickle. Thank you to both you and to Kenya for providing these prompts.

  6. Thats what I really admire and enjoy* about your writing, your posts, is the beautiful economy of words. It's one thing to create an image with a small group of well-chosen words. It's an order of magnitude more difficult to craft a phrase that connects with and engages the reader.
    very cool

*well, kinda two separate things, one more mature than the other.... everyone enjoys skillful writing, sometimes some of us (by 'us' I mean,'me') will also think... "Come on, clark! You need to get that good at this writing thing!"
    (don't tell anyone)
    lol

    1. Thank you Clark for your kind words. That means a lot considering you are so much more masterful at this writing thing. Writing serves several purposes for me and hopefully along the way some of what I write might be helpful to others in some way and also give those of my descendants a glimpse of this person I am, for good or bad or just to bring a smile or a laugh.

  7. Ah yes, lovely.
And Six - SIX - when I finally "get it" - such a relief. :)

    1. I agree with that. Some things I probably will never "get" in this life, but I am thankful for all those things which have become clearer along the way.

  8. All the items on your listicle (and I love to say and type listicle, too) evoke strong feelings and pictures. I feel some big exhales coming on.

    1. Thanks, Val. When I wrote that, I thought that it was going to sound silly to some, but there are certain words that are fun to say and hear.

  9. Shade and a breeze on a hot day. Ahhh.. a dry hot day. Yes!
Also, I constantly drink water and say, "Wow.. why is water SO good?" And my family will say, "because you're dehydrated if it feels that good to quench your thirst!"
And it's because water is amazing.

    1. We have a way of really appreciating water when we are thirsty, and if we have ever tasted water that didn't taste good. Water is amazing!
